After reaching 72º last Wednesday, it seems that old-man winter finally showed up. We received about 2″ of snow last night and I broke out the shovel. Temperatures are going to hover in the 30º range for the next several days with snow and wintry mixes now appearing in forecasts. We had been having a nice run of good weather the last few weeks, with small amounts of rain every so often. It was nice while it lasted… bring on the snow!
I had been wanting to go to Fenway Park in Boston for a long time, and I finally made it there on October 3, 2009 for a game against the Cleveland Indians. They won 11-6 with Josh Beckett starting. Pictures can be found here.
We had been looking around for a while for a house to rent, and we finally signed the lease to one today in Vassalboro, ME. The first night in the new house will be on September 30, 2009. It’s an old farm house on two acres of land. It was unoccupied for a little while before we moved in and requires a little TLC, but it won’t be long before it’s cozy. I am not currently able to post pictures because I haven’t located all of my equipment for transferring the photos from my camera to my computer, but they are coming soon!
No posts in quite some time, but it’s finally spring and I intend to be out taking photographs of this beautiful state once again.
It was 78° and sunny today so my girlfriend, her son, a neighbor, and I decided to hit the road for a trip. One of our stops was the Portland Head Light in Portland, ME. It is the first lighthouse to be featured in my new “Lighthouses” gallery, which you can access directly via this link. As the summer goes on, I’ll be visiting others and posting pictures of them.

I have been officially initiated as a Mainer. I spent about four hours this morning shoveling the 16 inches of snow that fell during the day yesterday and overnight. Official snowfall total for Augusta, ME was 15 inches. With the wind, there were drifts around two feet around the vehicles.
I guess I should be getting used to this. Hopefully other snowstorms we get this winter won’t be nearly as bad. There has only been one other time that I remember getting this much snow from a single storm, and I was around four years old at the time. Welcome to Maine!
